Kai had his sports carnival last Thursday and boy did he do well. He was so excited and so pumped, the young fella does love competing (don't know where he gets that from - probable his father). So this year moving into year 2 brings a lot of things and some of those thing are more races to run in at the sports carnival YAY..... So he was up at the crack of dawn (really no different than any other day, but trying to build the excitement) ready to go a short time later, so off to the sports ground we go, you could feel the excitement in the air as soon as we stepped into the arena. First up was the 400 meters, after a short pep talk to the young man. The talk went something like this, "now it's one full lap, don't go too hard in the first part of the race cause it's a pretty long way mate", "yeah yeah Mum I have it all under control", "well good luck and have lots of fun".
Anywho back to the excitement of the race, On your marks (he was very focused) get set, BANG and with that they were off, very tight on the first corner as they emerge looky looky the young man was first and running, well I thought very fast, but later was told " I was just jogging Mum"
that's were he stayed, so with the first race under his belt and that blue ribbon in his little hands...It was a good start to the day. Then the 100 was called, Kai sprung out of his seat and moved to the marshalling, so once again lined up, the starter get's them ready, with a BANG they are off, with a little stumble and the kid he fears most on his right they are off like flashes. It's fast (well exciting...) It's neck and neck Harry, Kai, Kai, Harry, Harry, Kai, neck and neck what a race....YAY Kai just pip's young Harry Yates at the line. What a race, with the best part being, Harry and Kai high five each other, bear hug and congratulate each other on a great race. So with his two wins and fastest times he is into the relay team for his house and once again another exciting race and another blue ribbon tightly in his little hand we leave the day very happy with ourself. Oh and he also picked up first in the shot put. YAY Monkey man great racing, but the thing that made me most proud was the sportsmanship.
